That's right, all access to designer showrooms that have been previously only open to the trade. The Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC) will open their doors to the public starting today October 1st. For the first time in 50 years non to the trade folks will be allowed to walk the halls and view the many showrooms ADAC carries.
Before, you have had to have the appropriate credentials to access the showrooms or be accompanied by a designer with those credentials Now, anyone can browse the showrooms at their leisure and see what the many manufacturers have to offer. ADAC is hoping this public access will show consumers the wonderful world of interior design and all of the many products and manufacturers that it houses under its roof.
This new change will bring more people into ADAC and hopefully ensure the showrooms will stick around, as well as direct people to the benefits of working with a designer. ADAC is a very big place with tons of product so I can see some people becoming even more overwhelmed with what they want for their project. Once you know what's out there it becomes even more difficult to narrow down your choices. This is a major reason that working with a designer will be the best asset to your project. A good designer can help you narrow down all that you see and keep your project moving in the right direction. Even speaking with a designer beforehand to steer you towards the right showrooms can be beneficial. Trust me it can even be daunting walking into a fabric showroom there without some direction or inclination of what you are looking for.
Even though consumers will now have access to roam the halls, purchases will still need to be made through a designer. ADAC will even have resources available to help you find someone that can help with your project if you aren't working with a designer already. In my opinion finding the right designer to work with is the first and most important step in making your project a success.
To kick things off there is even a month long series of events, speakers, and panels to ease your way into the world of ADAC. Click HERE for full details on what "Discover ADAC" entails and to register for events. I wish I could attend all of the events as there are some really good speakers lined up that I am sure will have tons of great information and tips. If I could, I would clear my calendar and hang out all month to hear what these fabulous Atlanta designers and tastemakers have to say. And of course I have to give a shout out to some local designer/blogger ladies that will be presenting about the latest design trends on Wednesday, October 10th at 10am. Say hey to Sherry, Erika, Wendy, Claire, Cristi, and Helen if you go. These ladies know all about the latest trends so I am sure this will be a great discussion.
So, are you excited for the change? Anyone gonna take advantage that has never been in ADAC before?
