Moody Eats: 246 Decatur

Last week the hubs and I went out to a restaurant we have had on our list for awhile. It has been open for almost a year and we kept asking ourselves why we waited so long!

246 in Decatur was amazing both in the food and design. The best Italian we have had since we were in Italy! Everything we ordered was polished off cause we couldn't stop eating the amazing food! And the atmosphere was perfect. Moody.....the perfect date spot in my opinion.

Between the amazing airy space, perfect moody light level, and the industrial style fixtures, I couldn't keep my eyes still. Exposed brick, antique mirror, rustic wood, metal. I enjoyed the whole atmosphere.

I love when you happen upon an amazing interior space just through everyday living.

Color Forecast, Part 5

Halfway done with the 2013 color forecast. If you have missed any of the posts on the colors before you can start from the beginning HERE. I also explain where this information came from. Feel free to catch up and come back.

This week, it's on to Yellow:

The forecast for yellows is that they will be beautiful and soft. Electric and citron will take a back seat to Creamy Banana, Lemon Chiffon, Tea Stain and Milanese Yellow.
Copper accents will also be used with yellow to ground the pallet. Naturals like Wheat and Straw manifest an organic counterpart but still retain the buttery hue.

I like where yellow is headed. This much more luxurious take on the color is soothing yet still cheery. I will still always love the citron lemony punch that bright yellow brings, but a toned down version of the hue will be wonderful and romantic.

What do you think?

Next Comes Blue, so come back next week!

Monday Mind Dump

This past weekend we finally made it to the Picasso to Warhol exhibit at the High Museum here in Atlanta. Its been here for so long and next weekend is the last chance to view in Atlanta. My husband and I are loyal procrastinators when it comes to seeing exhibits and events. April 29th is your last chance so hurry if you haven't seen it.
It was great to see in person some of the pieces that I studied back in art history class. Even if you are not familiar with the pieces I would still highly recommend going. There were so many great pieces. These were some of my favorites.

Henri Matisse

Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian

Joan Miro

Jackson Pollack

Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol

On one of my recent shopping trips I saw this cool display at Club Monaco. Yeah nothing new to hang plates on the wall, but they were turned backwards which I had never seen before. It gave it a nice clean look.

Last weekend I got some indoor plants planted in the living room and dining room. Wish me luck that I can keep them alive! I have had the fiddle leaf fig for a couple of months and it isn't doing so hot. I have heard they may do that when you first get them since they don't like change. I am hoping mine won't drop anymore leaves and will grow more. I re-potted, fertilized, and moved it to a brighter spot. Hopefully this will work. Anyone have some tips? Anyone know if the leaves will come back where they have dropped?

This poor guy needs some help....but I haven't given up yet!

Sorry for the disappearance last week. Last week was a doozie. I had too much on my plate and so blogging was placed on the back burner.....of like a large commercial kitchen restaurant stove. (i.e. lots of burners) Hopefully this week will be better and I can do some serious catching up. I have heard so many bloggers and even friends and colleagues say that they are so busy right now. Isn't it crazy that all of this comes in waves?

Our House: Dining Room Progress

So, not a lot of progress has occurred at the house recently. My list still remains as it was before without really anything crossed off. The flood repairs have us in limbo as the owners and association fight it out. Hopefully they will come to an agreement soon so we can get our lives pulled back together. They will be completely replacing all the hardwood floors on the main level (hopefully they will ask my opinion on color:)), and we have stuff all over the place that has been displaced from the now down-to-the-studs office.

I did however get the dining room cleaned up and took some pictures. The day before I took these I had all my china, papers, computer, and a bunch of other stuff all over the place. Seeing the table top is a relief.

This space has a long way to go and is the only one I don't have a vision for at the moment. Just a couple of days ago my sister walked in and said I needed more color in here. I agree, but I just don't know how I want to do that yet. Its amazing how the same stuff looks completely different in a different house. Our other house had all the great mouldings that kept the space from looking so boring. One thing this room has going for it is that it gets the best light in the house. I have actually liked using it as my office in limbo.

I'll come up with something at some point, and there are already a bunch of little tweaks I need to make with what is there. Like the pendant. I wish I had already changed that out. It kills me every time I walk by. And that buffet I have been meaning to finish painting for years now.

Until then, this is the before!

Great Idea

I just had to post this "great idea" image I saw that Kyle posted on Knight Moves yesterday.

Okay, pull your eyes up from that gorgeous rug and take a gander at that wardrobe turned bathroom vanity! Do you see the sink and faucet??? I am loving this. They even hung the mirror inside.

I have seen so many great chests and dressers turned into a vanity but I have never seen a wardrobe! Very clever.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Color Forecast, Part 4

Okay, so we are half way there and still plenty of good colors to go through. If you would like to start at the beginning, you can view Part 1 here. There are also links to Parts 2 and 3 there as well.

On to Purple......

The forecast for purples is that they will be deeply complex in tone and feeling.

The use of Faux Camaieux will occur again as mentioned for orange and different casts will be used within context of each other.

Murky and neutralized hues will come to the forefront and we will see colors such as Elephant Hide, Weimaraner, Mouse, and Twilight used. Very grayed and washed out renditions of purple.

There will also be the addition of unexpected accents such as deep amber, copper, and rose used to spark newness to the color pallets used.

I think this will be a new direction for purple since the past few years have had a bit more vibrancy. I think that this new more upscale take on the color will be wonderful and I am looking forward to seeing how it is carried out in fashion and interiors. What do you think? Are you a fan of this more muted purple?

Next Week: Yellow

Monday Mind Dump

Ever have one of those days (or weeks for that matter) where you just don't have anything you are inspired by, or that too many other things are blocking that inspiration? Well, I'm there. I have nothing for today.

I hope it comes back soon. I'm just happy I don't have anything majorly creative I have to pull off this week. That would be a problem! And since I don't, I'm not going to stress myself out and force it.

Hope no one else is having this problem and have a great week!
I'll be back tomorrow with the next Color Forecast come on back!

Easter Table

Anyone doing any entertaining for Easter this weekend? Some of you may already have a plan in your head of how you want the table to look, and some of you may not. I don't at this point but I have time to figure things out if needed.

I am a firm believer that an Easter table does not need to scream Easter with eggs, jelly beans, etc. Now, if that's the direction you like then great! I have seen plenty of gorgeous tables done Easter style.

But isn't it nice to keep things simple? Having an Easter/Spring feel that doesn't take too much effort? That is my kind of table!

"Amethyst Colored Glasses"

Awhile ago I saw this absolutely gorgeous table that Erin at Elements of Style put together for a jewelry store event. I bookmarked it and to keep a long story short, just found it again recently.....sometimes my bookmarks sit way too long.

She used such and amazing color pallet and I loved every single piece on the table.

And I can't stop thinking about the pretty purple glasses she used.....(among the many other wonderful things on the table)

So much so that I am really thinking that I need some of my own. I can never have enough dishware and glassware (to my husbands pure delight!). I have been looking and looking but can't seem to find anything. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place.

Anyone know where I can find some????

April Showers

Haha, sorry I couldn't resist. And how great are all of these showers. We need to buy a house stat so that I can put in an amazing shower (and tub while were at it). Our little 3'x3' square just doesn't feel as luxurious as these. Someday,.....someday.

Can you believe its April already???! Where did the last three months go? I don't feel like I am on my game with accomplishing my new year's resolution to "just do it". I have done some things but If I'm going to make a dent on everything I need to get going. Anyone else do a check-in on their progress for the year? How are you doing?

Hope everyone is having a great April so far....(all four days..haha)
