Time {For A Reality Check}

So, I have a confession to make.....

I have been consumed by blogging! No joke, it has taken over my life. Not that it's all terrible it's just that the time I put into reading, writing, commenting, researching, etc. has made it difficult to actually do all the other things I used to do or want to start doing. I guess you could say this week was the straw that broke the camels back and I was way too stressed out!

I have eaten into actual work time with my job (not good!) and doing things around the house have gone by the wayside. Now, I have never been the best at time management, and when I find something I like I tend to become obsessed. But the whole point of me writing this blog was to have a place to share inspiration and to sort out ideas about starting up my residential business. Well, none of that has been happening. Oops.

So, I have made the choice to cut back a bit on the blogging so that I have more time to devote to my business, my job, and my life! When I started I made a pact with myself to post something on this blog every day during the week. Well, not only have I missed days, but making myself post has garnered some uninspiring content. I am not gonna lie when I say some days I was completely void of any subject ideas and would just post nonsense or whatever was quick. When I look back and read through I am not completely pleased with what I have been giving you dear readers. Cutting back to posting a couple of times a week instead of everyday may help me spice up my posts and get some more inspiring stuff on here.

I am still working out what will be the best posting schedule so I can at least stay consistent. The next couple of weeks may be somewhat sporadic or I may get the reduced schedule going right away.....I just don't know at the moment. I hope I don't loose any of you dear readers and that you stick around to see what's in store. More time on my hands means more time to finish home projects, more time for client projects, and more time to just absorb the world around me.

I have enjoyed every minute thus far writing this blog and I hope to continue to so do. I always enjoy reading your comments and feel honored that you would take a moment out of your day to visit me here. I know it takes time out of your busy schedule to read and comment and I truly appreciate every time you do!

So.........off to live my life so I can come back here to tell about it.....Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Designer Chaos

So, this is the sad state of affairs at my desk this week.....(sorry about the terrible i phone pic)

I am in the midst of space planning some large hotel spaces and my eyeballs are going to pop out of my head! Maybe I should space plan the mess that is my desk.

This is actually my favorite part of the job. Moving walls, creating space, and working within the puzzle that an existing building gives you. I relish the challenge and love when I can come up with something great. Makes me smile. Do you smile when you know you have come up with something great?

Hope everyone is having a great week! It's been rainy and grey here in Atlanta all week. Supposedly the sun is coming out later today. I would like that!

Art Addiction {Isabel Ferreira}

On my latest Etsy search I came across the beautiful landscapes of Isabel Ferreira. Simple and small pieces that are crisp and calming.

Birds On A Wire

Calm Waters

Dunes

Evening Light

July Sky

Ocean View

Single Tree

Storm Approaching

White Sand Beach

Peaceful and serene. Her pieces take me back to my wonderful beach trips and the relaxation that comes with them.

I could see these placed in a grouping for a focal point in a space, or used separately to add some color to book shelves or that last little nook that just needs something.

Country Living Fair

This past weekend we took my husbands parents to the Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain. The weather was amazing and we had a great time just walking around looking at everything. We stuck to the vendor tents and missed all the demo's and lectures. My husband wanted to see the demo on grits but we were so busy looking around that when we looked at the time it was over! Oops.

The vendors were just what you would think to find at the Country Living Fair. There were crafts, antique dealers, and furniture makers. We didn't end up buying anything but did see a lot of neat ideas and products.

Lots of people had made these fabric pumpkins. This lady had the best fabrics and her's came in all different sizes. I loved the plaids the best! (Sorry didn't get the vendors name!...so bad)

We all loved these drift wood trees! The man made them in a bunch of sizes and even had the homemade ornaments. This tree was huge! Very cool idea and we all wanted to get one for the cabin we have in the mountains. (Again bad and didn't get any vendors!!!)

This man also had these cool roof vent pendants.

And typewriter key magnets. I should have bought some of these but this could be a really easy diy.

I was also on the hunt for small accent tables. I saw this one but it was a touch too big for where I need it. Took the picture, came back and it was gone! Should have bought that but I guess someone else has a better spot for it!

A great time was had by all! These were just some of my favorite ideas but there was sooooo much to take in with all the different vendors they had. Most of the stuff was not really my style but there were great ideas non the less.

We ended up spending half the day there and then came home for a rest before dinner. A much needed rest!

No Words

Just some pretty pictures for this rainy Monday.......

Nothing like some color injected into this otherwise grey and dreary day. Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend....I know I did! I will have some recaps this week on some of the things we did.

Here is to another busy week and enjoying it!

Crisp Fall Air {Weekend}

Yeah! The weekend is here...and it's packed with stuff to do. So much for spending a day in bed...

My husbands parents are in town so we have plans to eat out tonight and tomorrow night, and also make a trip out to Stone Mountain for the Country Living Fair. I am hoping the weather is nice and that we find some good stuff!

On Sunday I have a drapery installation for a client. I can't wait to see them all done! Then, after all my hard work there we head over to my Aunts house for Sunday family dinner. It will be good to see everyone and catch up on all the "what's happening".

Whew, what a busy weekend. I hope I can get some relaxation time in there, but if not I am sure I will sleep like a rock at night!

Does anyone else have any great plans this weekend? If not I hope you get to relax and I will live vicariously through you!

Sweat Dreams and Cozy Places

So, I just didn't want to get out of bed this morning. It has just been one of those weeks and I would have much preferred to stay there, drink tea, sleep, watch movies, read, and just all together be lazy.

It's just one of those days where you want to be inspired by where you wish you were. Staying in bed would be heaven! I used to have days where I never left the bed (except to go to the kitchen or grab something else to read). Those were the days where everything was simple and the list of things to do was non-existent.

I need to have one of those days soon. Maybe I will have to schedule it so that I make sure I can. Do any of you schedule days of leisure? Do you then follow it and actually do nothing?

So, that's a plan. I am going to take some time this afternoon and schedule some days of leisure. It will keep me sane just knowing I have them to look forward to.

Hope everyone has had a fabulous week so far. I don't know about you but I am ready for the end of it! Stay cozy.

On The Hunt {Warm and Cozy Blankets}

I am always under a blanket if I am at home. Even in the summer with the air conditioning I am under a blanket. I can't help it...if I am sitting or lounging, there is a blanket covering me.

Lately I have taken stock of the throws and blankets that are strewn about our home (not kidding here...I have tons). Most are starting to look a little tattered because they are so well used loved. This means I am on the hunt for some new cozy covers to replace the sad tattered ones. Even better that it is getting cooler outside so blankets and throws seem to be on everyone's mind. Here are some that I am considering......

I love how this one is so simple, machine washable, and has nice serene colors.

This could be my go-to blanket for this winter. It looks sooooo soft!

I love all the color choices on this one. It looks like a cozy throw that's perfect to toss over a chair.

This one screams fall. I love that orange and the dusty blue accent.

I have always wanted a cashmere throw but I would use it so much it would end up with holes all in it. Someday! And I would have a problem choosing just one color from these....

I love the idea of using quilts but am not a fan of the country look. This one has amazing color and the large scale pattern gives it an updated look.

Everyone who knows me is always shocked to find out I don't have one of these yet (they all know my blanket situation). Maybe I will finally take the plunge and get one. I also like that this one from West Elm is machine washable because I would do the white.

Any other suggestions? Do you have any throws that you love that I should try out?

Fall Brights

Lately with all the recent posts about fall I have been really drawn to all of the beautiful fall colors......

.......but in bright saturated color!

Just like the bright leaves as they turn on the trees....these fall colors pack a punch. Vivid and showstopping color that adds some life to fall. Everyone loves the comforting, and understated fall colors, but why not add some pizazz to fall as well!

Adding these bright accents will bring life into an otherwise dreary season.....winter. After the bright leaves are all gone, you will still have that fall color to marvel at inside.

As simple as adding pillows, throws, and accessories. Why not add some brightness to your fall decor.

Anyone love the brights of fall as much as me? I am anxiously awaiting all the wonderful colors on the trees appear. We have a tree in our front yard that turns the most amazing shade of vibrant yellow and then blankets our yard. I love it all so much...except the raking that occurs afterwards! The trees are beginning to change a bit down here in Atlanta but it seems late to me this year. Maybe it's just me?

Hand In Hand

Our house is in dire need of some extreme organization! This past weekend as I surveyed all of our belongings I was overwhelmed by all that was there. We just have stuff everywhere and all we do is shift everything around so that it is not seen when we have guests over.

We have too many clothes, too many nick knacks, too many magazines, and too much of everything else. And, to make matters worse, the storage in this house is non-existent. So, some very creative storage ideas are in order.

We need some systems in place that will help us "have a place for everything, and everything in it's place"! I have been wanting this for a long time but have procrastinated because of the overwhelming thought of a project like that. I know we need a professional organizer to come in but I don't think I can swing the cost at the moment. Then again I think waiting might cost us more in the long run!

It also comes down to the fact that I want our home to look good as well. It's hard for it to look good with stuff everywhere all the time. I would have to say that organization and design go hand in hand. It is very much related to design and the feeling of the spaces that surround you. You can have the most gorgeous furniture but without everything visually organized you will never see it. Or, having a gorgeous bedroom where the closet is unorganized so clothes are strewn everywhere.

So, I am putting a short hold on all of my dream home projects so that we can get ourselves organized! It's really the best thing and biggest transformation we can achieve. Once that happens we can then make all the design projects happen.

How about you? Do you find it hard to stay organized? I hope I'm not the only one. Do you make sure a space is organized before you work on the design? or the other way around?
