Light and Bright {For A Jolt of Energy}

I just can't keep my eyes from wandering towards all these great light and bright spaces!

Maybe it's the mundane view from my office........

Or the lack of pep in my own home decor...........

Either way, these rooms add a jolt to my otherwise (self diagnosed) bland life.........

Hmmm....I am starting to see a trend here on this blog. I need to get some color in my life stat! I can't help it. Can you blame me with all of these beautiful images?
Nope...didn't think so.

I am off for a couple of days down to New Orleans for a project.....mostly cooped up inside but hopefully I will get some time to wander around. Maybe I'll have some goodies to post when I get back!

He Did It Again {Nate Berkus}

I am in love with this house that Nate Berkus did in Tampa Florida. I am a huge fan of his work and he always continues to amaze me with  fabulous interiors. He is a true talent and my favorite thing about his "look" is the eclectic mix of new, old, and found objects collected over time.

When Can I move in!!!!!

The walls are slabs of travertine and are beautifully installed.
There is such a great mix of furniture and it helps the eye wander throughout the space....

Killing me here with the full height NanaWall doors and high gloss ceilings! Someday I would love to have a room that opened up to the outside like this.
(would need to move away from Atlanta for better weather....more like California)

The space is so bright and airy, love the herringbone wood floors, and where can I find a stool like that.

 My husband would flip out for this kitchen. I love the industrial feel yet the teak counters keep the space warm and inviting. Those pendants are awesome and the table and chair combination is to die for.

This room feels so cozy. With the wood paneled walls, and leather floors this is a masculine space but still fresh enough to not feel too manly.

Simple yet perfect for entertaining. I love using round tables in dining rooms.

This is such a great bathroom. I love a white bathroom, white towels, polished chrome fixtures.....and I love, love, love the vintage french steel bookcase to add such wonderful contrast and ground the whole room.

The little girls room with the bright green silk walls and canopy bed. I could have this as my room.

The master is very relaxed and again has silk paneled walls. I like the neutral pallet with that great
Pop of Yellow in the art.

Well, I am packing my bags to head down there. There are sure to be more bedrooms if anyone wants to come along!

Fresh {Happy Weekend}

Don't you just love this image?

I can't stop looking at it.

It is the picture definition of what I hope this upcoming weekend to be. Crisp, Fresh, Bright, Sunny. Making out by the pool...hehe.

Hopefully this inspiration will kick me into high gear with all the stuff I want and need to do around the house. Paint white walls (at least pick out the color), add bright pops of color (shop for some things I have had my eye on), garden work.....and the list goes on.

I know I won't be able to accomplish all of the list but at least I am motivated! .......At least for now anyway. And that's saying a lot considering how these past couple of work weeks have beat me to a pulp (i.e. Don't be mad at me if I lay on the sofa all weekend instead). I have plans and I am ready to make things happen!

Hope that all of you out there have a fabulous weekend and get things done :)

Because Sourcing Photos is the Right Thing to Do {Tin Eye}

Perplexed when you find an image and can't remember where you "borrowed" it from?

I don't know about you but I am sometimes guilty of putting images on here with "unknown" as the source. I try not to use them to see if I can come across the source but sometimes the image is too good to pass up for a specific post.

Not sure if anyone has come across this or not but I have recently stumbled upon Tin Eye, a reverse image search. This website has become a lifesaver for many of the older images I have collected over the years and forgot the source.

Perplexed

They won't find every single image you search for but there are tons that have come up when I put them in....they sometimes link to blogs that source the photo but may also link directly to the original source. I have even done old scanned in magazine images with success!

Try it out here. Hope you find some of those images that have long been elusive to you.

"Can You Find Your Style In One Picture?"

Ally over at From The Right Bank has enlisted all us bloggers out there to tackle the "What's Your Style In One Picture Challenge!".
Initially I thought about not participating because doing so would be too difficult for me. Find your style in one picture? Are you kidding me? This was going to be a challenge indeed.......

I poured through countless photos that I have saved and narrowed it down to a select few....But they were all so good! I couldn't choose just one. Then I decided to take a look again and saw that in some there would be maybe one or two things I might change. Yeah! That narrowed me down even more until I finally came to the conclusion that this was the one.

This picture definitely sums it all up. The more I look at it the more I love it. The furniture, the rug, the amazing ceiling height.... I am in love with the mix of styles. From the tulip coffee table and Eames molded plastic chair, all the way to the roll arm sofa and chair. Even the cute little wood stool.

I love the bookshelves and the way they are using an old wood painters ladder. I wish I had that much storage for our books because then I wouldn't have to talk myself out of buying more. And when you want to clean up the view you just pull the most beautiful color green curtain straight across!

I love this picture so much because it looks like I could already live there! All the way down to the Pellegrino bottle and take out on the coffee table. It's pulled together and neat but feels cozy and lived in...even with the ceiling height. I only hope someday I can live in an expansive space such as this but make it feel this homey.

I absolutely urge you to go and take the challenge. You may be surprised that you too can find your style in one photo! Even if you don't take the challenge you should definitely stop by From The Right Bank and check out all the entries along with the rest of Ally's blog. There is some great inspiration there!

{Christopher Guy}

I was doing a hunt recently for a couple of accent furniture pieces for a project I am working on and decided to take a look at Christopher Guy. It has been awhile since I looked through their catalog but when I was clicking around I wondered why I stayed away so long.......

I found so many pieces with amazing lines!

There is a strong lean towards the Hollywood Regency style and a bit of a theatrical sense, but the pieces feel like sophisticated art to me. They are so good at taking that typical chair and adding a bit of style......like the crossed back legs seen on many of the chairs.

We use alot of his pieces in hotels because they have the ability to add that special something through a piece of functional furniture. However, I could easily see them in my home adding that touch of the unexpected.
The collection also has amazing scale!
This mirror is 10 feet tall.

It would make a great statement in a stairwell or even hung horizontally to cover an entire wall in a small room.
And this lamp is slightly over 5 feet tall.

It would be great filling up a dark corner.

There is a flagship showroom in Beverly Hills but retailers carry the collection all over the world. I highly recommend a stop by a local retailer to check out some of the pieces in person.
Especially the mirrors....

These are just a few of my favorite tidbits from the online catalog but there is tons more to see. Stop by the website and take a look for yourself.

Restfull Weekend

What a week this has been! I feel as though I have been non-stop running around in circles all 5 days and if I stop I will pass out.

I have a birthday celebration to go to tonight for my sister and I am hoping I make it through! After that I am looking forward to some much needed relaxation this weekend. I am thinking pj's, tea, magazines, and my long dvr list that has been long neglected.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Till next week.

Books are not made for furniture......

......but there is nothing else that so beautifully furnishes a house. - Henry Ward Beecher

I would love to have a library someday and do this with all my collected coffee table books......

Or do this with a dining room I never use. Like that will ever happen...my husband likes to cook too much and all of our friend know about it.
Sorry for the short post..this has turned into one hectic week. Hope you are having a good one!

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was pretty uneventful and I got to do some much needed relaxing.

Busy busy day for me today! I am working on a project presentation deadline so no major post today. I would however like to share some of the magazine scans that I am using for inspiration on the project......

Apologies for the crappy scans...they are all from magazines and I have not kept track of where they are all from.
Hope all is well, and have a happy Monday!

Discontinued???

Don't you hate that? You search all over, finally find something you love, and then find out it's Discontinued! I have been on a hunt for some lamps for my dining room credenza for quite awhile now. I found these......

Currey & Company Adagio Table Lamp

......Fell in love instantly......Then found out they are discontinued! @x&%*#. I did a search online and no one has them in stock except for a company called Luna Lighting....for the low low cost of $491.00 each! What! That is crazy. I have the catalog sitting right here with net pricing and I will not pay that crazy mark-up.

Now I can't find anything I love so I am back to the waiting game and having no lamps in the dining room. I went back to Currey & Company and saw a couple that I like but not as much as the 1st ones.....

Francesca Table Lamp

Glasgow Table Lamp

Debonair Table Lamp

Maybe I should sit with these awhile and see if I fall in love.....I'll keep you posted when I finally make a decision. Also, if you have never heard of Currey you definitely need to go check out their site. They have great lighting, faux bois furniture, and some interesting accessories.

Summer Is Upon Us {A Porch Makeover}

Down here in Atlanta summer has officially arrived. Even as I type this our next door neighbors are cutting their grass and planting the pots on their front porch. I have started to get things planted and have done all of the herb pots right outside of the kitchen door.

Now all I can think about is our front porch. We have a great front porch but it is definitely missing some life.

Yeah, lackluster........It needs some major help.

We love to entertain and most of the time the party will filter out to the front porch. I want the porch to be an extension of the front rooms of the house and also provide a bit of curb appeal.
Here is what I have in mind......
Front Porch

Fashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

These are all pieces that I would like to add to what we already have. A new area rug for under the seating group.....A decorative bench to add to the round dining table for extra seating (kinda like a banquette)......some sheer drapes between the columns......and some new pots, pillows, and other accessories.
It will probably take the better part of the summer for me to complete...hopefully.....but I will post the results along the way.

Thibaut {Shangri-La}

I just got my first glimpse of the new Thibaut Shangri-La wallcovering and fabric collection. I am in love! Here are a few shots of some of my favorites....

Ting Yuan Wallpaper, Anafi Fabric

I love this chinoiserie print. It just seems less fussy to me compared to others I have seen. Maybe it's the cream background but the other colorways have the same feeling. I love how that pop of red adds some contrast to the otherwise light pallet. Though it is patterned it still appears light and airy. And I adore all the little animals and bugs throughout. Here is a close-up.

Kawazu Wallpaper

I love this all over pattern. So delicate yet makes quite a statement. Even more so in the charcoal colorway...

Ivana Wallcovering, Jakarta Fabric

I love how feminine this pattern feels. It is sophisticated enough to not feel too girly. This would be amazing though in a little girls room to bring it up a notch. I am not really loving any of the other colorways on this one. They are all okay but they don't have the impact that the coral and turquoise does.

And I saved the best for last.......
Devon Wallpaper

This is my favorite from the collection. Some may disagree and think it is too grandma, but if mixed with the right furniture in the room this could be a knockout. Of course it would also be perfect in a small space like powder room. The large scale birds make this pattern current and not so dated. I like the metallic gold colorway the best....some of the others just go flat.

Go here and check out the rest of the patterns, fabrics, and all of the colorways. Good stuff.
